Show and Tell

This week I thought I'd share these wood carvings.

These have been Christmas gifts from a very special friend. When growing up in high school many years ago, Dave met what would turn out to be his best friend for life. In fact he and Charlie were such best friends that they agreed to name their sons after one another. I knew this even before Dave & I began dating, he shared it in our Single's Sunday School class. I actually knew Charlie before Dave because he was my dentist. As it turned out, Dave & I fell in love and Charlie's lovely wife Brenda became one of my very best friends too. She is the sister I never had growing up! Like I said, Charlie is a successful Dentist and naturally is used to working with his hands. Several years ago he took up carving and is a master at it. I remember the very first carving he ever gave me, I was so honored that I actally cried! Time doesn't permit him to carve me one every year for Christmas so when I get one, I know he did it with me in mind!

As much as I love Santa Claus', (I have a huge collection of various ones in my curio cabinet that I'll share at another time) the indian is my favorite! I love all things Western and Charlie knew that I would especially love this one!

Here is Big Charlie and his son David Charles (left), Our son Charles David and my husband Dave are on the right! Thanksgiving 2007

People astound and amaze me. Then I remember that we are all created in God's image and I think, "NO WONDER!!!" I love these show and tell Friday's. Seeing others' choices of decor and possessions blesses me. I learned a long time ago that it REALLY is one of life's greatest joys to rejoice with those who rejoice...

Oh Connie, these are wonderful. I do love the Indian and the Santa's are beautiful. Thanks so much for sharing. These are treasures.

I believe it was Harrison Fisher who did the cards you asked about, but his and Boileau's art is very similar.

Blessings,
Mary
